3D furniture rendering catalogue images and room sets for furniture brands

Start a project

Catalogue images and room sets for furniture and decor brands. Each piece is modelled once, then shown in every fabric, finish and room you sell it for.

Service

We model each piece of furniture in 3D and render it two ways. A cut-out shows the piece alone on a plain background for the catalogue. A room set is a furnished room built around the piece to show its scale and style.

Furniture is costly to photograph. Each piece has to be made, moved to a studio or a styled home, and shot again for every fabric and finish. Furniture 3D rendering removes the transport and the set. Furniture makers, decor brands and online stores use it for catalogues, websites and marketplace listings. For everything we do for the trade, see 3D and AR for furniture brands.

What you get

  • 01

    Cut-outs for the catalogue

Each piece on white or a flat colour from the same fixed angles, so every product on a listing page lines up with the next.

  • 02

    Room sets

A living room, bedroom, dining room or office built in 3D around the piece. Lifestyle rendering services are the same thing: the product shown in use.

  • 03

    Every fabric and finish

One model shown in each upholstery, wood stain, metal finish and size you offer, without making each version first.

  • 04

    Detail views

Close views of stitching, joinery, wood grain, handles and edges, rendered from the same model as the main image.

  • 05

    AI-directed room scenes

For mood images, the room around a piece can be directed with AI. Our DONNY MAMUT project staged a pair of designer tables inside a Parisian-classical apartment.

  • 06

A model that also works in AR

The 3D model made for renders can be prepared for the web, so a shopper can place the piece in their own room at true scale.

Work like this

DONNY MAMUT is the furniture project. The others show our product stills and our 3D rooms.

Cut-outs, room sets, or both

A cut-out answers what the piece looks like. It is the image for the listing grid, the price list and the specification sheet. A room set answers how the piece looks at home: its size against a wall or a sofa, the style it suits, what sits well beside it. A catalogue usually needs a cut-out of everything and room sets for the main pieces.

A room set does not need a new room for every product. One room can be built and re-dressed for a whole collection, with the camera moved for each piece. That keeps the range looking like one collection and lowers the cost per image.

3D room sets and AI furniture visualisation

There are two ways to put a piece in a room. In a fully 3D room set, the room, the light and every prop are modelled, and the result is exact and repeatable. In AI furniture visualisation (also spelled visualization), the room around the piece is directed with AI, which is quicker for exploring mood and styling.

AI on its own is not reliable for furniture that is on sale. Image tools change the leg shape, the proportions and the fabric from one picture to the next, and a buyer who orders from that picture receives a different product. So a piece that will be manufactured is modelled first, to your dimensions.

One model for the catalogue and for AR

A render model is detailed and heavy. An AR model has to be light enough to load on a phone. Both come from the same source. We model the piece once in full detail, then make a lighter copy as a GLB file for Android and a USDZ file for iPhone. The shopper taps a button or scans a QR code and the piece appears in their room at true scale, with no app. AR for furniture explains how this is added to a website, and 3D product modelling covers the models on their own.

What we need from you

For each piece we need its true size and its true materials. The rest is styling, and references are enough for that.

  • Dimensioned drawings or CAD for each piece
  • Or photographs from the front, side, back and above, with measurements
  • Fabric, wood, stone and metal references: swatches, close photographs or supplier codes
  • The list of variants: sizes, colours and finishes
  • The angles you want for the cut-outs
  • References for the rooms: the style and the kind of home
  • An existing 3D model, if your designer works in SketchUp or 3ds Max

What decides the price

3D furniture rendering has two units. The model is charged per piece, once. Images are charged per image, and a cut-out costs less than a room set. A plain table is quicker to model than a tufted sofa or a carved bed. A new fabric or finish on a finished model is a small addition.

Room sets cost less per image when several pieces share one room. If you plan to add AR or a turning 3D view to your website later, say so at the start. The model is then built so the web version can be made from it. Ask for the quote to list models and images separately, so you can see what a new variant will cost to add.

How it runs

  1. 01

    Product list

You send the drawings or photographs, the materials and the variants for each piece.

  2. 02

    Model the pieces

Each piece is built in 3D to its real dimensions, and you check the shape on plain previews.

  3. 03

    Match the materials

Fabrics, woods and metals are matched to your swatches and approved piece by piece.

  4. 04

    Build the rooms

Room sets are laid out and lit, and you approve the camera angles before final rendering.

  5. 05

    Final images

Cut-outs and room sets are delivered at the agreed size, named by product and variant.

Questions

How much does 3D furniture rendering cost?

The model is charged per piece and the images per image. The cost depends on how detailed the pieces are, the number of variants and how many room sets you need. Send the list of pieces for a quote.

Can you render furniture from photographs?

Yes, if the photographs show the front, side, back and the view from above, and come with measurements. Drawings or CAD are more accurate. For upholstery and wood, a close photograph of the real material helps most.

What is a room set?

A room set is a furnished room made to show a piece in use. In 3D the room is modelled on a computer, so it can be re-dressed for each product in a collection.

What is lifestyle rendering?

Lifestyle rendering shows a product in the place it will be used, such as a sofa in a living room. For furniture it means the same as a room-set image.

Can one model be shown in every fabric and finish?

Yes. The shape is modelled once and each fabric, stain or metal finish is applied to it. Send a swatch or a close photograph of each material.

Is AI good enough for furniture images?

For the room around the piece, yes, with direction. For the piece itself we do not rely on it. AI image tools alter shape, proportion and fabric between images, so furniture that will be manufactured is modelled in 3D.

Can the same 3D model be used for AR on our website?

Yes. A lighter copy of the model is made for the web and for AR, so shoppers can view the piece in their room. Tell us at the start so the model is built with that in mind.

Do you work with furniture brands outside Mumbai?

Yes. We are a 3D furniture rendering company in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and we work with clients across India and abroad over video calls and shared review links. Samples and swatches can be sent to the studio.
