A Matterport alternative in India 360° tours for your own website

Matterport is a company that makes 3D capture cameras, software and an online platform. An operator scans a finished space from many positions. The platform turns the scans into a tour of the space. The tour is hosted on Matterport's platform, from where it can be shared and embedded.

A Matterport service in India is usually a photographer or an agency that owns the camera and scans the property for you. People also use the word loosely for any scanned or 360° tour. If a quotation says "Matterport", ask whether it means the product itself or a 360° tour in general.

For its plans and prices, check Matterport's own website or a reseller. We do not quote them.

We make a tour in one of two ways. For a finished space, we photograph it with an Insta360 camera from several viewpoints. For a space that is not built, we build it in 3D from the drawings and render the same kind of 360° image at each viewpoint.

In both, the viewpoints are linked by markers on the floor. The buyer clicks a marker to move and drags to look around. The tour embeds in your website and opens from a link. There are two on our home page, one photographed and one rendered: try them.

When you compare offers for any kind of tour, check the same things on each quotation.

• How many viewpoints or scan positions are included
• Whether hosting is paid once, paid regularly, or on your own server
• What happens to the tour if the hosting is no longer paid for
• Whether the tour can sit on your own domain
• How many rounds of changes are included
• Who keeps the photographs or the 3D model afterwards
