Why a per-minute rate misleads for AI films
AI tools usually charge for the seconds they generate. A film uses a small part of what is generated. Each shot is attempted several times, most attempts are set aside, and the one that is kept is often corrected by hand. The seconds in the final film say little about the seconds made to get there.
A minute of film can also hold a few long shots or many short ones, and each shot is its own piece of work. A film where the pack, the logo and the lead character must match in every shot is far more work than one where nothing recurs. When a supplier gives a per-minute price, ask how many shots it assumes, how exact the product will be, and how many revision rounds are included.
