3D walkthrough cost in India how a walkthrough film is priced

Start a project

How walkthrough films are charged in India, without a rate card. Which unit is fair for which film, what the length depends on, and how to read a quote.

Guide

A 3D walkthrough film in India is usually priced per minute or per second of finished film, and sometimes per sq ft of the project. We do not publish a rate card, because the price depends on the brief. Send a short brief and a quote follows.

The length of the film is only the unit of measure. The cost comes from what the camera passes through: how many spaces are modelled, how finished they are, and whether people, cars, water and trees move. Two films of the same length can be very different amounts of work. Tell us the spaces to show and where the film will run, send the drawings, and the quote states the length, the revision rounds, the delivery size and the schedule.

In short

  • 01

    Quoted on finished length

Per minute is the common unit in India. Short films for social media are often quoted per second. The rate covers modelling, animation, rendering and the edit.

  • 02

    Length follows the spaces shown

A film is as long as the route it has to cover. List the spaces you must show before you choose a length.

  • 03

Per sq ft is a rougher measure

Some suppliers price a walkthrough on the area of the flat or building. Ask what length and which rooms the rate includes.

  • 04

    Every second is many renders

A film is a run of still frames, and each frame is rendered. This is why a film costs more than stills of the same space.

  • 05

    The route is approved early

Camera paths are agreed on a plain preview. Changing the route after final rendering means rendering those shots again.

  • 06

    The model can do more

Stills, a 360° tour or an interactive walkthrough can come from the same 3D model, for less than starting each afresh.

The units: per minute, per second and per sq ft

Buyers in India ask for the 3D walkthrough per minute cost, and most quotes are written that way. Three units are in use. Each is fair for a different kind of film.

UnitWhere you see itFair whenWhat to check
Per minute of filmMost quotes for launch films of apartment projects, villas and townshipsThe film is a usual mix of exterior, amenities and a sample flatWhich spaces and what level of finish the rate assumes
Per second of filmShort films, teasers and cuts for social mediaEvery shot is designed, and the film is too short for a per-minute rate to make senseWhether there is a minimum length
Per sq ftWalkthroughs of a single flat or floor, often from interior firmsEvery room is shown at the same level of finishThe length of the film and the rooms it covers

What the film length really depends on

Length is a result. It comes from the route. Start with the list of spaces the viewer must see: the arrival, the lobby, the amenities, the flat types, the view from the balcony. Each space needs enough screen time for a viewer to understand it. A camera that moves too fast, to save seconds, produces a film nobody can follow.

Where the film will run matters too. A film that loops on a screen in a sales office can be longer and slower. A film for social media has to be short, and is usually a cut of the main film. A film shown in a presentation, with someone talking over it, needs pauses. Decide the route and the uses first. The length follows from them, and so does the price.

A shorter film of fewer spaces, finished well, is often more useful at a launch than a long one that shows every space at a lower finish.

What a walkthrough rate pays for

A still render is one frame. A film is many frames for every second, and each one is rendered. That is the main reason a walkthrough costs more than a set of stills from the same model, and the reason a change is cheaper before the final render than after it.

A per-minute or per-second rate bundles several kinds of work. Knowing them helps when two rates look far apart.

  • Modelling every space the camera sees, inside and outside
  • Materials, furniture and lighting for each space
  • The camera route, approved first as a plain preview
  • Things that move: people, cars, water, trees, curtains
  • Rendering every frame of the film
  • The edit: music, titles, logo and colour

What makes a film cost more, and how to avoid it

Two films of the same length can differ widely in price. These are the usual reasons.

FactorWhy it mattersHow to keep it down
Number of spaces on the routeEach space is modelled, furnished and lit before the camera enters itShow the spaces buyers ask about first, and leave out the rest
Exterior and landscapeA township or villa site needs roads, planting, amenities and the buildings around itAgree how much of the site and its surroundings the film must show
Movement in the scenePeople, cars and water are animated, and they slow the renderingUse movement in the shots where it adds something
Level of interior stylingA fully furnished, styled flat takes longer than a plainly furnished oneSend the furniture and material list with the brief
Changes after the final renderThe affected shots are rendered againSettle the route and the design on the previews
Delivery size and versionsA larger frame takes longer to render, and a vertical version is framed separatelyList every screen and format the film will run on
No existing modelThe whole project is built from the drawingsOrder the stills and the film together, so one model serves both

What a walkthrough quotation should list

A rate alone tells you little. To compare two sets of 3D walkthrough video charges, put the quotes side by side on spaces, finish, movement and revision rounds before you look at the rate. A lower per-minute price for empty rooms and no landscape is a quote for a different film.

A walkthrough quotation should carry these lines.

  • The spaces the film covers, in order
  • The finished length, and any shorter cuts included
  • Revision rounds: on the preview, on the lit scenes and on the final edit
  • Delivery size, file format, and horizontal or vertical versions
  • Whether music, voice-over and titles are included
  • The schedule for the preview, the lit scenes and the final film
  • What is excluded, and where the film may be used

How to pay less for the same film

Each of these saves money by settling something before it is built or rendered. Nothing here lowers the finish of the film.

  • Send the complete drawing set at once, with the landscape plan
  • Freeze the design before animation starts
  • Approve the camera route on the plain preview, and keep to it
  • Order stills and film from one model
  • Have one main film made, and take the shorter cuts from it
  • Choose the music and the titles early, so the edit is done once

When a film is the wrong format

A walkthrough film shows one route, chosen by you. That suits a launch, an advertisement and a presentation. See walkthrough animation for how we make one.

If buyers need to walk freely and try finishes, that is an interactive walkthrough, which is priced per project. Our interactive walkthrough cost guide explains it. If they only need to stand in each room and look around, a rendered 360° tour is less work than either. If you are unsure which you need, start at the 3D walkthrough page.

Questions

How much does a 3D walkthrough cost in India?

It depends on the brief, so there is no single figure. Most films are quoted per minute or per second of finished film. The charge follows the number of spaces shown, their level of finish and how much moves in the scene.

What is the 3D walkthrough per minute cost in India?

There is no standard per-minute figure. A minute inside one furnished flat and a minute over a landscaped township are different amounts of work. Ask any supplier what their per-minute rate assumes: which spaces, what finish, what movement.

Is a walkthrough priced per minute or per sq ft?

Both units are used. Per minute or per second is more common for project films. Per sq ft appears for single flats. A 3D walkthrough price per sq ft should always come with the film length and the list of rooms.

Why does a walkthrough cost more than still renders?

A still is one rendered frame. A film is many frames for every second, each rendered, plus animation and an edit. The model is the same for both. See 3D rendering cost in India for how stills are priced.

How long should a walkthrough film be?

Long enough to show the spaces on your list at a speed a viewer can follow. Write the list of spaces first. The length follows from it, and so does the 3D walkthrough video price.

What is the 3D walk through rate for a single flat?

A single flat is a small walkthrough: one model and a short route. Suppliers quote it per second, per minute or per sq ft. The charge depends mostly on how furnished and styled the rooms are.

How long does a walkthrough take to make?

It depends on the number of spaces, the level of finish and how quickly you approve the previews. The quote sets out the schedule before any work starts.

Can the film be changed after it is finished?

Yes, but the changed shots are rendered again, and that is charged. Changes cost least on the plain preview, before materials, lighting and final rendering.
